About time for an update no?

I'll make this quick. I am really not in the mood for much more than that.

I only lost 300 grams (0.66 lbs) at weigh in this week. Yeah yeah, spare me the ol' "a loss is a loss" stuff cos I totally know. I'm ok with that loss. I didn't do much to help it along.

BUT I got on the Wii Fit today (which, by the way, AWESOME!) and I've gained 1.5 kgs in the last THREE days!!! How the hell did that happen? Is it my crappy eating from last week catching up with me? *sigh*

My dad sent me The Biggest Loser game for the Wii...I tried it today. Bob the trainer just about killed me! But it's an AWESOME game. I love it. Will be using it regularly.

So. Between the Wii workouts, the walking to get ready for the half marathon and going to the gym/pool, I SHOULD be losing weight. I just really need to get back on track with my eating. I was getting a bit slack there. I'm going to do better now.

Here's to a better week.

  1. Meg, really can't expect to be losing 4/5/6lbs every week. A healthy weightloss now you are well into the diet should NOT exceed 2lbs a week. Otherwise you will be losing good (brown) fat and muscle as well as the fat. That's not good. Also puts you at great risk for developing gallstones (or making them worse if you already have them). Slow and steady wins the race and you are less likely to regain the weight losing it more slowly. I know it still feels sucky though (((hugs))).
As for the Wii as a scale, please ignore it!!! I got on this morning and it told me I had lost 200g - that's bollocks. My real scales read a loss of 4lb this week so far. I am convinced the Wii should not be relied on as an accurate scale. Please just stick to your home scales/WW. Keep up the great exercise. You will get to your goal if you stay focused, promise. xxx

  3. I slack in the eating department, too. And then wonder why I gain a pound after working out like a 'Mad Woman' :)

  4. Do you know, Maggie, that if you gain muscles, you will gain weight as well? so gaining weight would not necessarily mean that you ate too much or did not work out enough, I guess?!

  5. You know what? Every week is a new week...that's the beauty of time. It ebbs and flows...and you have the long term goal in mind.

  7. The Wii Fit scale is so inaccurate, it's scary. It has to be positioned *justright* or it won't read properly. Don't pay attention to that portion of it - just keep enjoying the games and the workout you get from them. And Renate is right - muscle weighs more than fat, so don't get discouraged. You're doing this to get healthy and building muscle is a good thing!! Ok, enough assvice from this slacker today. :)
